Andrew will make his Carnegie Hall debut as the bass soloist in Zhou Long’s new oratorio Men of Iron and the Golden Spike. With a libretto by Su Wei, the piece tells the story of Chinese laborers who built the transcontinental railroad. The work is commissioned in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the completion of the railroad in 1869 by the Center for East Asian Studies and the Chinese Railroad Workers in North America Project at Stanford University and the US-China Music Institute of the Bard College Conservatory of Music.
